Do you ever wonder what is the difference between a herbivore's digestive system and a carnivore's digestive system? But what is a digestive system. Without a digestive system, we can't eat and we can't go to the toilet, too. The digestive system's job is to break down the food you eat and let it leave you body. The digestive system include your liver, your intestines (small and big),esophagus, stomach and your anus. Everyone had a digestive system, including animals. But what are the difference between a herbivore's digestive and a carnivore's digestive system? In this case, I'll use a horse as a herbivore and cheetah as a carnivore.
A horse's digestive system is massive. The big reason why it is big is because plants won't give as much energy as meat. This makes the herbivore had to eat more than a carnivore which means the horse had to digest more than a cheetah. The other big reason is that the plants and trees absorb sunlight which when a horse it the plant, they also are eating the sunlight. The sunlight is very hard to digest and it also take a lot time to digest all of it. It's need a big digestive system to digest faster and easier. A adult horse can hold 7.5-9.5 litres (2-2.5 gallons) of food in their stomach. Most of herbivores must chew continuously (40-50,000 times a day). Even though herbivore does not eat other animals, they still need " animal protein" so they used a specific treatment from the bacteria when they continually digest.
A cheetah or a carnivore had a very small digestive system but their esophagus is long. What cause this is because meat can store lots of energy so it only need a small stomach to digest everything it need. Carnivore and humans are much alike. Carnivores and humans break and take directly vitamins from animal sources. An interesting fact: Pandas have digestive system of a carnivore because scientist proves that pandas are bears and was design to eat meat but the panda feels like it was being alone when they are eating bamboo and they like it.
Even though they had different sizes but they are the same when their food will always go through their esophagus and into the stomach to start break down the food. The it will makes it way to the small intestine next. A fun fact is when I think that some animals don't had a liver. The next stop will the cecum then the colon is when it reaches to it anus and leaves it body. When the food leaves the body, it is smashes into small pieces but come into a big poop since the food stick together when it is waiting to leaves our body.
